Oleksandr Ivanovych Veretennikov was born on 2 May 1961 in the Belgorod region. In 1984 he started to work at the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau. He has a PhD degree. In 2009 he became a laureate of State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technics, in 2002 he was awarded with the Order “For Services” of III degree, in 1991 he was given the title of “Best Designer of the Ministry” and a Letter of Commendation issued by the Ministry and the Central Committee of Trade Union, in 1998 he was given the title of “Best Specialist” and a Letter of Commendation. Before being appointed the Acting Head of SOE KMDB, he worked as the Chief Designer of SOE KMDB.
The Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau (KMDB) is a state enterprise, which is now Ukraine's leading design authority for armoured fighting vehicles and used to play a key role in the development of armoured tracked vehicles in the former Soviet Union.
The contemporary activities of the KMDB are distinguished by three main factors:
- the ability to offer customers a wide range of armoured vehicles and other products for both military and civil use, as well as obsolete vehicle upgrade packages
- the provision of equipment closely tailored to customer's individual requirements
- the availability of long-term support for the end user
